The limited deluxe reissue is being released in the wake of the 20th anniversary of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the classic selftitled debut album, and it's celebratory 2025 worldwide tour. This project saw him build a barn studio behind his house and work with friends like Matt Barrick (The Walkmen), Scott McMicken, Toby Leaman (Dr. Dog), Quentin Stoltzfus (Mazarin), and Billy Dufala (Man Man). Skin & Bones emerged as a louche, loose album a woozy blend of barroom rock 'n' roll, trippy desert blues, and Beatlesesque melodies. Wurlitzer and Hammond organ weave throughout, alongside jagged guitars, pedal steel, and saxophone. Barrelling drums and Ounsworth's idiosyncratic delivery tie it together.
