Bach's six sonata cycle for violin and harpsichord were considered in his lifetime to be watershed compositions and among his best works, and the eminent violinist Erich HÃ¶barth and young Finnish harpsichordist Aapo HÃ¤kkinen present a captivating collection filled with superb ensemble playing that highlights not just the exquisite majesty of these works but the considerable gifts that each musician brings with great distinction.
