In 1892, Brahms returned to the piano to deliver his final works for the instrument: four collections of music written in a sparse, almost ascetic style, before the Vier GesÃ¤nge that would close his oeuvre. "Playing a late Brahms intermezzo is like walking in the snow: every trace remains." Fabrizio Chiovetta approaches these songs of farewell with his characteristic elegance and directness.
