Founded in Montreal in 2013, the Orchestre de l'Agora combines ambitious, innovative programing with a strong commitment to social impact, and places emphasis on Canadian creation. Nicolas Ellis is also music director of the Orchestre National de Bretagne and principal guest conductor of Les Violons du Roy. This first album centers on Canadian composer Ian Cusson. It brings together his arrangements of Schubert lieder and his song cycle Le RÃ©cital des anges, based on poems by Ã‰mile Nelligan, in a program exploring wandering, dreams and mourning. The Orchestra is joined by mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska and soprano Elisabeth St-Gelais, one of the rising stars of the Canadian opera scene.
