The drama of Kasprowicz's poetry, the mysticism of Micinski's reflections, erotic fascinations and symbolism included in German culture, Oriental fairy tales, discreet humour of Polish folklore, simple folk religiosity, Joyce's intimate emotions and playful children's stories - Szymanowski managed to express all of the above through his music while remaining faithful to his individual style. The otherness, which was a nuisance during his life, also left it's mark on his means of musical expression. The female artists who expertly interpret Szymanowski's songs on this album are fully aware of his original musical language.
