Peter Gall's last album, Love Avatar, won the 2025 German Jazz Award for Album of the Year. Rather than revisiting that successful formula, Gall takes a bold new direction with Drum Seeds, an equally compelling record that captivates in a very different way. Fueled by energy and analog warmth, the album places drums and original beats at it's core. Raw, powerful, and hypnotic, these grooves balance intensity with an immersive, trance-like quality. Yet Drum Seeds is far more than a percussion showcase. What began as a drum-focused project evolved into a collection of atmospheric, partly song-based tracks layered with rich soundscapes. Echoes of Aphex Twin, Caribou, Boards of Canada, and the cinematic worlds of David Lynch and Blade Runner surface throughout, alongside references to Gall's own jazz roots. Compelling melodies, nuanced harmonies, and a spiritual, imaginative atmosphere shape the album, while it's distinctive grooves remain the driving force behind this kaleidoscopic and captivating work.
