This La Ritirata release featuring the complete string quartets of CrisÃ³stomo de Arriagais a follow-up to their Early Baroque program Il Spiritillo Brando Glossa. On this new recording, the underlying spirit of La Ritirata is of an intensive consideration of musical (and other) sources before attempting fresh interpretations. The use here of period instruments for these works is a first.
