After many singer-songwriter CDs, this is my first kirtan CD. The world of yoga chanting (kirtan) has been an essential musical-spiritual connection for me over the past years, and this record, 'Songs for The Space Between- 7 Mantras, is really born from my spiritual practice: the place where music and devotion meet. The music on this CD is true to so much of what I do: Folk and Rock, melodic and groove, while the Mantras offer a heartfelt place to sing from; the singers on the CD are angelic and the instrumentalists sensational. And while all types of music continue to take me to wonderful places playing guitar and singing with fabulous and talented people, singing mantras have had a deeply moving place in my life. The songs on the CD are arranged as they would be in live kirtans, often in a call-and-response format, so that everyone is singing and experiencing the joy, opening your heart, and a sense of moving through challenges. This is a beautiful practice, and this CD is one offering I can make to it. You will want to sing and be part of this music while you listen.
