Chloë and the Next 20th Century se compuso y grabó entre agosto y diciembre de 2020 e incluye arreglos de Drew Erickson. En este álbum, Father John Misty (también conocido como Josh Tillman) y el productor/multiinstrumentista Jonathan Wilson reanudan su larga colaboración, con el regreso de Dave Cerminara como ingeniero y mezclador.
