Kristin Diable - Impossible Things (CD)

DESCRIPCIÓN

A southern original, Kristin Diable's voice bends as whimsical and unyielding as the Mississippi River. Her timeless melodies and sharp-eyed lyrics channel the mystical within the everyday, revealing the silver lining inside ordinary moments. The result is a sound that feels both grounded and otherworldly, and unmistakably her own.Diable's previous release, Create Your Own Mythology, recorded in Nashville with producer Dave Cobb, was praised by NPR, American Songwriter, and Southern Living as one of the year's best. Her forthcoming album, Impossible Things, writes the next chapter. Recorded at the legendary Dockside Studios in south Louisiana with producer Ben Alleman (Dr. John, Ryan Adams, Jenny Lewis, Madi Diaz), it sounds like a radio tuned to two timelines at once: dream pop echoes drifting through a shotgun house, Sunday morning mercy with Saturday night glitter still clinging to it's boots. These songs do not rush. They pull up a chair, slide a coffee across the table, and say, "Tell the truth and don't flinch."Diable does not flinch. She wrote these songs through seasons of upheaval and reinvention, navigating loss, the death of loved ones, domestic violence, single motherhood, and the reckoning that comes with rebuilding a life on your own terms. What emerges is a body of work that practices a kind of spiritual jiu jitsu, transforming weight into grace and ache into architecture. The title track counts like a spell: "I believe six impossible things before the sun does rise." "Bidding" marks the moment illusion falls away and a woman walks out lighter and taller. "Shame Say" opens a window rather than wagging a finger: "love won't lie, truth is coming for you." "Ever Softly You Go" is a lullaby for two children at once, the one sleeping in her arms and the one she once was. "Reckless & Free" throws the doors wide open, fear shrinking as life expands. "Ricky's on the Dance Floor" buys a round for the broken-hearted and reminds us that rhythm is it's own kind of medicine. This album is not optimism. It is alchemy. It finds the holy in the mundane: laundry steam, a kettle coming to a boil, a melody catching in your throat on the way to the grocery store. Rooted in southern Americana but refracted through dream pop, cinematic textures, and subtle electronic shimmer, the production floats like a handful of Mardi Gras glitter that keeps catching the light long after the party ends. Think unlikely pop daring to dream quietly, or neo-Americana reimagining it's altars under neon lights. Some records want to impress you. Impossible Things wants to companion you. It believes you can do hard miracles before breakfast. It believes your art is your life and your life is your art. It suggests transcendence is not waiting on the other side of hardship, but living right here in the present, if we listen closely enough. When the song ends, the world may look the same, but you may not be. That is how impossible things usually begin.See you at the show.
