Detalles: En 1979, Geraldine Fitzgerald (1913-2005), la legendaria estrella de Broadway y Hollywood, hizo algo inédito: empezó a cantar en su propio espectáculo de cabaret, Streetsongs, y la crítica neoyorquina lo elogió. Rex Reed escribió: «Deja al público aplaudiendo a gritos». Su cabaret dio lugar a un especial de PBS, una larga temporada en el Teatro Roundabout de Nueva York, una velada en la Casa Blanca para el presidente Jimmy Carter y una gira por Chicago, Boston, Los Ángeles, Pittsburgh, Filadelfia y Washington, D.
