The Matar Project was founded in 2016 by Adi Newton (TAG / SOON / Spectral Unit / ClockDVA) together with Michael Esposito, a pioneer in American EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) research, and Sarah Rosalena Brady, an American violinist and assistant professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara School of Arts, and has since given special performances in the United States and Europe. Archaeoacoustics was produced over a five-year period using live recordings of binaural beat frequencies from Stonehenge and field recordings from the ruins of Harer on Bodmin Moor/Minions. Grounded in archaeological acoustics, the project explores the intersection of archaeological and astrophysical theory, ancient spiritual systems, and metaphysical concepts, pushing the boundaries of conventional expression through psychoacoustic techniques, specific frequencies, and immersive audiovisual compositions.
