Details: While "identity" has become a loaded term in America, it remains relevant in the arts as cultural identity and shared experience provide the human foundation for creative work valuing community and tradition. On their debut album, New York's Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Jazz Collective, led by Taiwanese-American trombonist Peter Lin, honor their histories through the celebration of the imagination and the music that follows. Founded in 2019, the collective performs jazz-infused arrangements of classic and traditional Asian songs, as well as provocative original works from the group.
