    1990 年と 1991 年に、エリック・クラプトンはロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールで 42 夜公演を行いました。1990 年には 18 回、1991 年には 24 回公演を行いました。これらの公演の間、クラプトンはロック バンド、ブルース バンド、オーケストラの 3 つの異なるラインナップで演奏しました。

    ナショナル・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団との共演は、間違いなく全公演の中で最もユニークなものと言えるでしょう。このオーケストラを指揮したのは、伝説の作曲家マイケル・ケイメンです。クラプトンは以前、映画『ラッシュ』『リーサル・ウェポン』のサウンドトラックでケイメンと共演していたため、クラプトンがケイメンにオーケストラ編曲を依頼したのは自然な流れでした。

    『24 Nights: Orchestral』に収録されている13曲には、「Layla」「Sunshine of Your Love」「Wonderful Tonight」「White Room」「Can't Find My Way Home」「Bell Bottom Blues」「I Shot The Sheriff」「Lay down Sally」「Crossroads」といった素晴らしいオーケストラアレンジが収録されています。特に注目すべきは、ケイメンがエリック・クラプトンのために書き下ろした30分に及ぶ楽曲「Concerto For Electric Guitar」の初録音です。
