    詳細:コースターズは、50年代から60年代初頭にかけて活躍したボーカルグループのひとつで、ドゥーワップとR&Bの時代からロックンロールの爆発的普及期、そしてそれ以降の時代まで、1960年代までヒット曲を連発し、橋渡し的な役割を果たしました。ドゥーワップグループのロビンズから派生したグループとして誕生し、新進気鋭の作曲家兼プロデュースチーム、ジェリー・リーバーとマイク・ストーラーによって作品の媒体として採用されました。最初のヒット曲の後、リーバー＆ストーラーのスパーク・レーベルからアトランティック傘下のアトコ・レーベルに移籍し、2人は同レーベルとプロダクション契約を結び、ロビンズからコースターズに改名しました。このお得な56曲入り2枚組CDセットには、1954年のスパークでのデビューから1962年までのザ・ロビンズとザ・コースターズとしてのA面とB面がすべて収録されているほか、ボーナスとして、同時期にアルバムに収録され、シングルとしてはリリースされなかった2曲が収録されている。この時期にチャート入りした18曲はもちろん、アメリカとイギリスで伝説的なヒットとなった「サーチイン」、「ヤケティ・ヤク」、「チャーリー・ブラウン」、「ポイズン・アイビー」、そしてアメリカで記憶に残るヒット曲「スモーキー・ジョーズ・カフェ」、「ダウン・イン・メキシコ」、「ヤングブラッド」、「ホッグ・フォー・ユー・ベイビー」、「アロング・ケイム・ジョーンズ」、「リトル・エジプト」など。ベビーブーマー世代の通過儀礼における金字塔となったヒット曲を収録した、非常に楽しめるR&B風味のロックンロールであるだけでなく、リーバーとストーラーの作詞作曲とプロダクションの才能を証明するもので、彼らのユーモラスな「ストリート・サーガ」の曲は、グループ最大のヒット曲となっている。
