DESCRIPTION

Details: This is the only work released by Daisaku Kume, a keyboardist/composer/arranger who has been a leading musician in Japanese fusion and has contributed to many masterpieces, under the name 'Daisaku Kume & Sera.' This 1990 work, which is currently difficult to obtain, has finally been reissued on CD! This is a masterpiece recorded on the prestigious Electric Bird record company, which has been rapidly re-evaluating it's sound in recent years. It features a lineup of musicians who represent the cutting edge of the Japanese music scene in the 1970s and 1980s, including Kume's close friend and Japanese percussion genius Kiyohiko Senba (THESQUARE, Haniwa-chan), violinist Neko Saito, who also participated in Ayato Itakura's Killing Time, bassist Bakabon Suzuki (Metrofarce, Pearl Brothers), guitarist Hiroki Komazawa (Hachi-mitsu Pie), who is also renowned for his steel guitar playing, saxophonist Hiroyasu Yaguchi (Real Fish), and one of Japan's leading singer-songwriters and a genius in the new music and city pop genre, Yoshitaka Minami. Music From Memory, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was a pioneer in reviving New Age music and had a huge influence on the subsequent discovery of obscure music. After compiling the historic compilation album Heisei No Oto ('21), which focuses on Japanese ambient pop from the CD era of the 1990s, this work can be said to be one of the last uncharted territories in the revival of Japanese New Age music since the 1990s, long after we entered the CD Age. This masterpiece is packed with a lovely, fantastical worldview that feels like a Japanese fusion interpretation of the works of the renowned Innovation Communication label, founded by German electronics maestro Klaus Schulz. The album is packed with superb tracks that fit the modern new age perspective of recent years, such as the ambient fusion masterpiece 'Jordan,' a crystallization of wonderful optimism with it's dynamic yet graceful development that seems to have a hint of Balearicism; 'Dance Ternate,' which moves the location to a fun shopping mall and the hustle and bustle of a city on a sunny day, and depicts the fresh innocence and nostalgia that is also reminiscent of the early works of Muramatsu Ken; 'Indigo Queen,' a calm and sentimental Balearic/ambient that is like a journey to the other side of the horizon, which is also excellent from a proto-vaporwave perspective; 'Spanish Harlem,' a utopia-like oriental fusion with a slightly mysterious and festive mood; and 'Malabar Jubilee,' a gem of a Japanese rareric ambient fusion that brings to mind Atlas' 'Breeze,' the highlight of this album. This warm and uplifting album is based on fairytale memories of childhood games and gazes at the distant horizon, and expresses the way they melt into the bright afternoon air through sound. It is full of unique Japanese fusion that can only be heard here. Songlist 1. JORDAN 2. DANCE TERNATE 3. NETTAI YAWA 4. INDIGO QUEEN 5. SPANISH HARLEM 6. TANGO MANIA 7. BLUE CANARY 8.
