Details: Softpack CD reissue of the digitally remastered 2008 collection of the influential Manchester group fronted by singer Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr. The Smiths formed in Manchester in 1982 and quickly became the quintessential British indie rock band of their time. Fueled by the collaboration between singer and lyricist Morrissey and lead guitarist and co-composer Johnny Marr, their sound had a literary and musical depth that was complex, emotional and often controversial, yet resonated with The Smiths' unique take on timeless melodic pop sensibilities. Their rise also marked a break from the synth pop and post-punk that had defined British music. 23 tracks including "Hand in Glove", "Girlfriend in a Coma", "This Charming Man", "How Soon Is Now" ' and many more.
