Best known for his songwriting, country folk singer Joe South scored a huge hit in 1970 with "Games People Play" and again in 1971 with "Rose Garden," a monster hit for Lynn Anderson. Also a prominent sideman, South lent his skills to a wide array of artists from Bob Dylan to Aretha Franklin.
