DESCRIPTION

Details: A French saxophonist with a powerful and lyrical playing style, influenced by jazz greats such as Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Rollins, Roland Kirk, and Gato Barbieri, Olivier Temime made a name for himself as a teenager in the clubs of Marseille, before turning his mentors - Wynton Marsalis, Johnny Griffin, and Steve Grossman - into lifelong musical partners. A free spirit, he moved to Paris in 1995, winning a soloist award at the La Défense Jazz Competition in 1997. He explores a form of jazz fueled by the collisions that create diamonds. From 1998 to 2023, he released ten albums as a leader, under his own name or with the group The Volunteered Slaves, which he founded. His latest album, Inner Songs, released in 2023, is introspective and committed, blending groove, poetry, and spirituality, with guest appearances by Oxmo Puccino and Stéphane Belmondo. Temime embodies a jazz that is free, generous, and deeply human. In 2022, he left the bustle of Paris behind for the village of Marcenay, in Burgundy. Surprisingly, this new life turned out to be anything but quiet. Jazz workshops now follow one another at home, and Olivier shares his sacred fire in the regional jazz schools, including those in Châtillon and Dijon. Jazz is alive here - close, local. Surprises and encounters unfold and burst forth in this paradise-like setting that has become his home port. The result? Two new albums, both about to emerge at the edge of the lake. The first, due out on October 10, 2025, will be a trio recording with his longtime companions: Emmanuel Bexon Hammond organ and Simon Goubert on drums. The second, scheduled for late January 2026, will be a quartet featuring the new generation: Étienne Deconfin on piano, Sylvain Romano on double bass, Antoine Paganotti on drums - and the voice of Rahsaan Roland Kirk as a protective spirit.
