Oscar Peterson - In Session: Oscar's Arrangement (CD)
DESCRIPTION
Details: Oscar Peterson was probably the greatest, certainly the best-known pianist in the history of Jazz. Whilst his solo and small group material is well known, his career as a sideman is often overlooked. He played with jazz royalty, recording sessions with no less than Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Lester Young, Benny Carter, Roy Eldridge and many others. This set samples the best of his session work, with an emphasis on recordings in which his piano is prominent. Featuring rare recordings from Jazz at the Philharmonic and studio sessions often produced by his mentor and manager Norman Granz, this set features the cream of American Jazz talent from the 1950s.
