DESCRIPTION
Details: One Of The More Memorable U. S. Instro Hits Of 1961 Was The Irrepressible 'You Can't Sit Down (Part 2)', By The PHILIP UPCHURCH COMBO. Although Only A Moderate-Sized Chart Rider, It Became A Million-Seller. At The Time Of It's Success, Nineteen-Year Old Upchurch Was Doubling As The Guitarist In Dee Clark's Band, And A Session Player For Vee Jay Records. He Went On To Carve Out A Long And Distinguished Career As A Soul, Jazz And Blues Session Guitarist, Alongside A Parallel Solo Career. This Compilation Deals With His Brief Sojourn As A R&B /Pop Instrumentalist, On The Back Of His Hit Single. It Comprises Two Lps, "You Can't Sit Down Part Two" And "The Big Hit Dances", Plus A Couple Of Contemporaneous Singles. Much Of This Material Is As Rare As Unicorns' Manure, And Is Virtually Impossible To Find Elsewhere On CD.
