This live recording was composed specifically for that occasion, later revised slightly, and performed again on May 25 of the following year by the Tokyo 21st Century Orchestra (conducted by Satoshi Yoneda). While I began composing from scratch, I couldn't get a piece I'd written previously out of my head. It was a piece called 'Symphonic Elegy, ' written for a piano duo concert with Makoto Ozone. The concept was to create a symphonic expression using two pianos. Since I just couldn't get the piece out of my head, I decided to recreate it as a proper orchestral piece, resulting in a four-movement piece. Unlike a concerto, which fully showcases the pianist's virtuosity, this piece was written in a way that allows the piano to exist solely as part of the orchestra. The piano part is relatively simple, and I created it with the dream of it being performed by a wide audience. If it becomes such a beloved piece, it would be the greatest joy for me as a composer. 'Preciousness' is a piano and strings version of a piece included on my solo piano album 'solo piano = solo salt.' This piece, which means 'preciousness' or 'reverence, ' expresses my own feelings of love and gratitude for music. This performance was part of a concert with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by Ryunosuke Numajiri) held at Chigasaki Civic Cultural Hall on October 17, 2021. Performing with this maestro, who was also my junior high school senior, was a deeply moving and unforgettable experience.
